Story
Hannah (13), Seren (8 ) and other members of the Pastorate are hoping to do a sponsor Bike ride from Arddleen to Newtown (the length of the Pastorate) on the 28th May 2022 (weather permitting) to fundraise for the Christian Aid Connexional Appeal 2022 - Seeds of Hope.
Every five years members of the Presbyterian Church of Wales contribute to the work of Christian Aid through a specific appeal.
This year at the General Assembly in Caernarfon, The Presbyterian Church of Wales launched the 2022 Appeal – Seeds of Hope. The target set to raise for the appeal is £250,000 for the appeal.
The appeal is very timely. It comes on the back of a difficult year for us here, but for our neighbours in the world’s poorest countries, it has been an even more challenging year.
The effect of coronavirus, lack of clean water, food, violence and conflict have meant great pressures on the communities. During the past year climate change has touched people all over the world. From flooding in Pakistan and South Sudan to severe storms in the Americas.
The focus of the 2022 Appeal will be the long-term challenges and the impact of climate change. In particular, the challenges facing some of the world’s poorest countries. The appeal will focus firstly on Kenya.
Christian Aid has been working in Kenya since 1997 and through local partners have been supporting people in poverty to respond and adapt to the climate emergency.
