Story

Around 8 years ago my Grandma Marcia started to develop dementia. My family and I have watched as the years have gone by her symptoms getting worse and worse. We are extremely grateful that she has abundant support from my incredible Grandpa Ivan, her full time carers and lots of friends and family to make her feel supported, loved and valued. Unfortunately, not everybody suffering from this awful disease, and the loved ones of those suffering, has the support necessary. Until the day we find a cure for dementia, Alzheimer's Society, the UK's leading dementia charity, will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted in their community. Every penny you donate is making sure they can be there for people affected by dementia. Every three minutes, someone develops dementia.

My Grandma sadly passed away on the 1st August 2021. I will now be running in her memory. She suffered from this awful disease for a long time, she is now free and at peace.

We can beat it, but we can't do it alone. Please donate xxx

At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.
