Story
I remember waking up on the 15th and being horrified.
I remember getting down there as soon as possible to try and help.
I didn't grow up in the area but I grew up down the road in Greenford and my grandparents had lived in Ladrboke Grove and then Latimer Road.
The area is the heart of west London and that was shown in the way the comnunity came together and continue to do so.
Grenfell should never have happened and the fight for justice goes on.
It felt like Hillsborough all over again.
People and groups saying what the issue was were ignored and neglected and harmed by the state and corporate greed. The injustice so strikingly obvious. People living there knew the issues and had shouted about it long before the world came to know of Grenfell.
I got to know of some of the people we lost through Solidarity Sports and I feel blessed to know of their legacy and haunted by the fact they were taken from us. Seeing kids dealing with loss and trauma, I'm given hope by the work of so many organisations, groups and centres. 💚
V proud to know people who fight day in day out for justice and for their community.
This boxing fight is nothing compared to the bigger fight but it's a way to raise funds, the profile and also channel some of that fight through the process and in the ring! It spurs us all on to keep punching.
Solidarity.
Grenfell, forever in our hearts 💚
West London, my home.
