Story
Farleigh Hospice plays a huge part in our lives here at MHA MacIntyre Hudson. Having had family and friends cared for by Farleigh Hospice, you see the amazing difference they make in caring for their patients. They go far and beyond to make life easier not only for the patient, but for the patient's family too as they also go through a difficult time.
Kelly Sayward, Office Supervisor at MHA MacIntyre Hudson comments 'Unfortunately my dad was diagnosed with cancer a few days before Christmas in 2009, I was pregnant at the time with my first child, so this should have been a very happy time for us all. Although his treatment helped to prolong his life at the time, the awful news came that destroyed us all, the cancer was now in his bones. That's when we were introduced to Farleigh Hospice where they would give him pain relief. With the 24/7 hour care that my dad needed, the Hospice were remarkable. Nothing was too much trouble for the nurses, the lengths they went to in caring for my dad was out of this world. We couldn't have ask for him to have been looked after any better than he was. They really do care for their patients. Sadly, my dad passed away in 2011. Farleigh Hospice will always be close to my heart with the help and support they gave to me and my family through the most heart breaking time. That's why every year I am proud to take part in the Cycle for Life event and help raise money for the Hospice so they can continue to care for local people with life-limiting illnesses.'
MHA MacIntyre Hudson have been supporting Farleigh Hospice in the annual cycling event since 2006 and we are very proud to help continue to raise funds year on year for a truly amazing hospice.
Each individual member of the team will be cycling the 20km, 50km or 100km route round the beautiful countryside. Please help support us by donating money to our Just Giving page. We are doing the hard bit and as some of us haven't been on a bike for many years, the easy part is to kindly donate to give us more encouragement when cycling on our route.
Farleigh Hospice is a registered charity (no. 284670) which provides hospice care to people affected by life-limiting illnesses across mid Essex. They help patients to live as actively as possible from the point of diagnosis to the end of their life, by providing physical and emotional care, free of charge. With approximately 40% of their yearly running costs being funded by the local NHS, they rely on the support and goodwill of the local mid Essex community to contribute to the £16,039 it costs to provide their services each day.
