Story
This car is my lasting legacy and tribute to my Dad. He owned it for 53 years before it was sold to fund his long term Alzheimer’s care.
When I can no longer drive, the car will be auctioned off and every penny will be donated to The Alzheimer’s Society.
I hope that’s a long time hence and I that I get to witness it, but you never know.......I am raising money and awareness with Dad’s car in his memory. All fundraising and donations in the meantime will contribute further.
The story:
My dad bought his MGA Twin Cam in 1961 when it was 3 years old. In his ownership he courted my mum and then my stepmom in it, raced it and took it with him from the UK to Barbados, where I helped him restore it. It was then shipped to Canada, where my Stepmum sold it in 2016 to fund his long term Alzheimers social care.
Randomly, typing “classic cars” into eBay in August 2018 I found Dad’s car, back in the UK and on a timed auction......so I bought it!
Alzheimer’s is a wicked disease. It’s the biggest killer in the UK and 1 person is diagnosed every 3 minutes. Please donate what you can; there will be a cure and the sooner we find it the sooner we eliminate the pain this inflicts on family and friends as well as the ultimate sufferer. It’s too late for my Dad but there is hope. I feel so passionate about the cause that I am now an Ambassador for the charity.
Thanks so much for your support, James Davis
