Story
Every year in the build up to Christmas, Morecambe Football
Club and Community Sports visit Royal Lancaster Infirmary to spread some festive cheer and hand out presents to children on the wards. It has always been an important part of the community initiatives that we run, with the aim being to make Christmas a more enjoyable time for all.
Unfortunately this year due to Covid-19 restrictions we will not be able to do our annual visit as normal or have a toy and games appeal.
Therefore, this December Morecambe Football Club and Community Sports have come together to do a fundraising activity to raise much needed funds for Royal Lancaster Infirmary's Children's Ward.
Members of staff, coaches and players at Morecambe Football Club are involved in the fundraising. The aim is to cover the distance of John O’ Groats in Wick, Scotland to Land’s End in Penzance. A total distance of 603 miles (970 kilometres) as the crow flies.
This Go Fund Me page has been set up for all donations throughout the challenge. An initial target of £500 has been set for us to raise for Royal Lancaster Infirmary which will provide them with some much needed support.
The aim is for the hospital to use this money to purchase new Ipads in the children's ward which will make all the difference to those patients spending time there. The generosity from those that choose to donate and show their support for the club’s challenge will help our overstretched health service that have helped all of us at some stage in our lives.
Our fundraisers are:
* Nathan Briggs (Running 70 miles), Martin Powell (Running 100 miles), Zoe Fraser (Running 50 miles), Stephen Wright (Running/Cycling), Jodie Assitt (Walking)
