Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As many of you know, I overcame major life saving heart surgery in Oct 2016. I am grateful for this second chance given me and I have decided not to waste the time so graciously extended to me. In July of this year I am riding a motorcycle solo from my home in Shropshire through mainland Europe and the whole length of Norway to Hammerfest, the most northerly city, way above the Arctic Circle. It is something I had thought of doing some time ago, however now I want to put some practical purpose behind the trip.
I am doing this ride for Open Doors UK an organisation which supports the persecuted church worldwide. As a Christian I have taken for granted that we in the West can practice our faith in comparative freedom whereas sadly this is simply not the case for many Christians elsewhere. There are places where followers of Christ must keep their beliefs hidden and where living the gospel means facing beatings, imprisonment, banishment, discrimination and abuse. Thousands die each year for their faith, often unknown and unreported. My hope is to raise awareness of the persecuted church by this challenge. So it for them I will ride, for those who have no voice.
We have so much to be thankful for and often we rarely stop to think about how privileged we are. That is true for all of us whatever our faith or non faith and even if you are not remotely religious I hope you agree that highlighting such injustices are nevertheless worthwhile and important. Therefore I ask, would you please consider supporting my challenge? I might add that I am funding the entire cost of this trip myself, donations made therefore will go to Open Doors.
