Story
Being a finalist in the Ms Galaxy UK 2018 pageants competition means I automatically support their chosen charity which is The Christie. Since I entered the competition a little late I didn't have much time to organise a big fundraising event so I had to think of another way of raising money which resulted in entering a 10k run (Sunday the 19th of March at 8am) after not having run one for over 6 years. When I entered myself I had just over a week to prepare myself so let's see if I can finish under an hour...My PB 6 years ago was 49 minutes....!
A little about where your donations will be going towards:
All of the funds raised will go towards The Christie’s new Proton Beam Therapy Centre which is due to open in 2018. The centre, which will be the first of its kind in the UK, has been designed to include a research room so that The Christie can use the proton beam not only to deliver lifesaving treatment to patients, but to carry out ground-breaking research. Every single piece of research The Christie carry out in their new proton research room will help them improve treatment for their patients. One of their first pieces of research will be to investigate how they can deliver proton beam therapy more precisely and efficiently. This means even better treatments for patients and fewer side effects. With the equipment in place, they will be able to better understand how protons interact, where they deposit their dose and how they can localise their damage to the tumour.
Your support will be immensely appreciated.
Love,
Merel
