Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I was due to do this challenge a year ago but the pandemic got in the way, so am slightly worried I am not quite as ready as I might have been but am determined!
I'm taking part in the Thames Path Challenge and walking (may attempt some running!) 100k to raise money for the Motor Neuron Disease Assoction. We lost my Dad to this horrible disease only six months after his diagnosis.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones, or nerves, in the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting.
MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breath. However, not all symptoms necessarily happen to everyone and it is unlikely they will all develop at the same time, or in any specific order.
There is currently no cure for MND.
