Hi I'm John and I'm a normal guy, I weigh 24 stone and I need to get some weight off and increase my fitness so hiking up mountains isn't easy for me even though I love it! I'm married with 3 children and run a care agency in Devon and with all this in mind I am heading out to the Himalayas on my own to join a small group of mountaineers to scale the mighty Mera Peak.

Steve and I however throughout 2021-2022 will also be hiking as many uk peaks as we can and have already scaled Tryfan, Blencathra, Pen Y Fan in the last 4 weeks so watch this space to see how many we get done in the next 12 months...But wait one minute ... MERA PEAK..

Lets think about that ONE for a minute .... 24 stone, 1 year to get in shape and then I need to climb 6476 meter/ 21,247feet up a freezing cold mountain over a 22 day expedition.. at this height the effective oxygen level drops from 20.9% at sea level to ...ONLY 9%.9% Effective oxygen means every step is so much harder and every additional bit of weight is so much heavier so yey lets do it!
