On Monday we are going to be starting a week long ‘Lived in Experience’. The aim to live on the food that a Child that we support would live on for a week.
The children and young people who we support eat what they find in the trash or that they can scavenge or live on very basics of porridge and milk. Therefore, the irony in our challenge is that we won’t be able to replicate the challenges that children face each day. We will however be living each day on the food that we provide through our warm food programme; meaning that our calorie intake will be drastically reduced and also missing the snacks and treats that we would have ordinarily during the week. I have no idea whether we will be able to cope, but I guess we have the luxury that if we can’t cope that we have the support to be able to survive.
Having seen and witnessed the continued pressure that young people live with each day, we wanted to live on their diet to try and get our understanding both physical and mental to the people that we support as possible...and of course raise money to support them further.
You have already done so much and do so much for us and for Memusi. I am sorry that we are again asking for support and a donation, but I hope that you understand why we are. If you can’t afford or indeed don’t want to donate, we completely understand but sincere thanks for taking the time to read.
Thanks always…we truly appreciate your support. Please do watch our progress as we will try and tell the story through Facebook.
