Story
Dementia is the UKs biggest killer. Someone develops it every three minutes and currently there is no cure. We know it is scary but we must confront the biggest health & social care challenge of our time. We owe it to the 900,000 people across the UK currently living with dementia to campaign for change, whilst providing vital day-to-day support. By taking part and raising money, or donating to someone who is, you are helping to do this. Once you donate, JustGiving sends your money directly to Alzheimer's Society you don't need to do anything and it's the most efficient way to fundraise.
Thurrock's Dementia Friendly Community (DFC) Group are walking through Thurrock, starting and finishing at Hardie Park, on Saturday 23rd September 2023 to raise awareness and vital funds for the Alzheimer's Society. The day starts with a Zumba warm up at 10am and both 3km and 7km walks depart at 10.30am - Distances are approximate.
Thurrock's DFC are committed to support people living with dementia and their carers, friends and families in the community to help them to live their lives with access to services and support they need to fully participate in community life.
Thurrock's DFC are dedicated to highlighting the issues that are important to people effected by dementia to ensure the work they commit to is what is required locally.
