On Sunday September 20th, my brothers Sat, Sucha, Harijit, Bali, Bobby & I are taking part in the well known ‘memory walk’. The memory walk is an opportunity to fund raise for those who suffer with dementia and all donations will be given to the Alzheimer’s charity. Most of you will know we lost our dear dad on March 10th 2020. However, only a few will know that our dad suffered from dementia. It became quick and painful for him over the last 18 months, as we saw him deteriorate rapidly from the strong independent man we had known. However, he never lost the twinkle in his eye, and it is in memory of that twinkle, that we take great strides on this walk.
Those of you that know us will know this walk will not be easy as our Sundays usually consists of us all sitting with our mum, cake in one hand and a cuppa in the other. In true tradition, us six never get a moment alone, so we will be inevitably joined by our usual tribe (the different households will be split in order to adhere to the government lockdown restrictions).
As a family we have seen first hand the pain this disease can bring to the lives of our loved ones and raising money to enable more research into finding “a life without dementia” would be phenomenal. We are looking to walk 5km and raise £300, with this hopefully being matched by Santander UK.
We understand this year has been a tough time for many so we appreciate any donation you can make to help us reach our target.
Many thanks for your support.
