Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Positively UK provides peer-led support, advocacy and information to everyone living with HIV to improve their knowledge, confidence and connections and effectively manage any aspect of their diagnosis, care and life with HIV.
Their one-to-one peer support and group work is tailored around the needs of LGBTQ+ people, women, young and ageing people living with HIV, and their presence at most HIV clinics across London contributes to a system where clinical and social care is combined with peer support to equip people to take an active role in their health.
Their peer mentor training programme has contributed in establishing a national network of peer mentors, skilled in providing emotional and practical support to others living with HIV.
Positively UK hosts the National Biannual Conference for People Living with HIV, and their advocacy work aims to influence policy-makers in order to improve the healthcare system and services for people living with HIV.
Their activities are designed to address all aspects of living well with HIV, while we support people to tackle the root causes of their issues, e.g. lack HIV knowledge, stigma and isolation.
Positively UK have also led on the development of the National Standards for Peer Support(2017), with eight out of nine being incorporated into the British HIV Association Standards of Care for People Living with HIV.
