Story
Thanks for supporting Scouts!
Scouts doesn't just help young people to learn #SkillsForLife, it helps parents and communities too. Here’s my story…
I entered into a competition to win a skydive. It is something I have thought about doing for the last few years, but never had the courage to do it. Why a skydive? It is the scariest thing I could think of and I want to push myself out of my comfort zone...
...A week later, I had received a message to say I'd won the skydive and within the hour, it was booked. The date they had available just so happens to be the day before my birthday. At 10,000ft I am terrified but so excited and saw it as an opportunity to help the scouts. Why?
My son has been in Scouts since he was 6 years of age, (10 this time) and I did some volunteering during his time at Beavers so I have seen first hand how Scouts has helped millions of people over the years. Unfortunately, there's still thousands of young people on the waiting list. With your help, more young people can enjoy new activities, make new friends and embrace new opportunities.
The last year was tough for Scouts all over the world, not being able to meet face-to-face. So many groups, especially those in areas of deprivation, were already struggling, even before the pandemic. As these groups closed, then not only is this generation missing out (my son included) on the skills, hope and opportunities, they provide, but future generations too.
That’s why the money I'm raising is focused on supporting those groups most in need, and delivering essential services nationally so we can keep supporting young people during the pandemic and beyond.
Scouts have always been there for us and our communities, so now let us be there for them.
Thank you so much for your incredible support!
