Story
On 12th November 2013 I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro; the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world at 5,895 metres/19,341 feet above sea level, as part of a team raising funds for the worthy charity Hope for a Child.
The charity aims to 'give a hand up, not a hand out' enabling some of the world’s poorest families in Uganda and Malawi to help themselves out of poverty by setting up Village Savings & Loan Associations (VSLAs) through their partners.
Every £450 trains a group of up to 30 individuals within the community to create their own financial security. An average of 200 children per group are impacted for the better.
To me, helping to raise money for Hope for a Child is an amazing use of my time. The charity helps families and children in a sustainable manner which means that in turn they can then help themselves and others; ensuring a brighter future for whole communities which they may otherwise not have to look forward to.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
A big thank you for taking the time to visit my page and please dig deep and donate now to this amazing cause to help those less fortunate to help themselves and their communities!
