Story
Due to a stress fracture in my hip, I was unable to run the 2018 London Marathon, however, I was fortunate enough to have my number carried forward for the 2019 Marathon and I am very excited to be running for Independent Age in 2019.
In our communities today, we see that the aging population can sometimes be forgotten about, many seniors spend hours alone and do not have family around to support/care for them and they can spend days without speaking to anyone. Loneliness is not a feeling that anyone wants to experience. Just one aspect of Independent Age is that they have volunteers that go out to pay a visit to seniors, or make a phone call and sometimes these visits/phone calls may be the highlight of the day for the senior and improve their quality of life significantly. The seniors are very close to my heart and locally I do charity work through Action on Alzheimer's and Dementia (AAD) and see the struggles that some of the seniors and their families face.
I hope you are able to support me in running for Independent Age. Every dollar raised will assist Independent Age to continue working on improving the lives of old people in the UK. Thank you in advance for your support!
Your donations via JustGiving are safe & secure. The funds will be sent directly to the charity so it is a very efficient way to support! Please if you have 5 minutes visit Independent Age's website and look at the fantastic work they are doing for the Seniors across the UK.
