Story
If we carry on as we are in terms of carbon emissions, snow cover in the mountains above 2000 metres will decrease by 70% in our lifetimes. The lives of many people and ecosystems on Earth rely on this snow. I have decided to be part of the change, to protect our winter climates.
I will take on the save the 2000 challenge by completing 10km and 200 height meters (10 x 200= 2000!) every day of the month of July on top of my daily commute. I hope to raise money for climate action and protect the places we love, so please support me in this!
So how will the money that you are raising be spent? This year is incredibly important for POW UK. It's a real opportunity to influence tangible systemic change at COP 26. The focus for their campaign will be Divestment; reducing or stopping investment in fossil fuels. They will be working with community, supporters and partners to campaign to local councils, corporates and individuals to end fossil fuel sponsorship. The impact this will have on the mission to be net zero by 2045 is huge!
