Story
Helllllpppppp! I’ve agreed to run London Marathon for Dogs for Good and I need your support!
Dogs for Good is an assistance dog charity, helping people to lead more independent lives through the help of trained dogs. DfG support so many people with complex needs including physical disabilities, autism, dementia and learning disabilities.
I work as a Dog Trainer for DfG, teaching the dogs all they need to know to become life changing assistance dogs. This means I’ve seen first hand the real physical and emotional benefit that people get when working with a trained dog. The dogs become a friendly helper that wants to assist with tasks, a confidence booster when out in public and a friend that motivates and encourages.
Dogs for Good receive over 4,000 enquiries a year and it costs more than £21,000 to train and support each assistance dog. With your sponsorship, they can create more life-changing partnerships.
I’ve been running for a couple of years, but I’ve only ran up to half marathon distance. I am already starting to train for the London Marathon but the real hard work will begin in January. I will be running a minimum of 30 miles a week, getting up to a distance of 22miles (probably about a 3.5hour run!!!) and will be spending hours on the cold wintery streets clocking up time on my feet. But knowing I’m helping to change more lives will make it all worth it.
Thank you for your support,
Melanie x
