Well it’s almost time for The Great North Run - again!! It’s 4 years since the first time I took part - and definitely the last!! 

I can’t change the date so it still says 2021!! I had to defer last year as I had covid. But it’s definitely happening on 11th September 2022💜

I haven’t trained as well as I should but I will still be on that start line and I will definitely finish!!!

I’ve got some great buddies who will be by my side to make this race awesome!!

It’s now been 5 years since the transplant but the kidney team still need our help and support to help people like Dave.

As most of you are aware, my husband Dave received his donated kidney just over 5 years ago. Without the amazing work done by Kidney Research UK, transplants like his just wouldn’t go ahead. The donor was unknown to us but we later found out that she was in her late 70’s and had worked for the health service. She had a beautiful family who were amazing enough to allow the donation to go ahead after her death.  It was Daves 5th call to the hospital after 6 months of gruelling dialysis and 7 years after he was first diagnosed with renal failure. We can’t physically pay for organs but this is my way of repaying the enormous debt that we owe for a healthy kidney and a new chance of life. Dave might not be able to run with me but his support and understanding as I disappear for hours training is invaluable ❤️
