Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and read why I am running the London marathon on behalf of the Reed’s foundation.
As a parent I understand how a good education and care can transform the life of a child. From my personal connection with Reed’s I know how the foundation has been providing educational and pastoral support for vulnerable children for over 200 years. These children have suffered from parental deaths, abandonment, abuse and parental health issues, physical or mental. Many have been exposed to a range of social issues.
One young persons story: Isaac (*) lives with his mother and three siblings in a rented house in Islington. His mother is profoundly deaf, has a brain tumour and significant mental issues. The family rely entirely on benefits. The oldest brother has been in trouble with the law and now lives on the street. Isaac shares a bedroom with his two other brothers. His sister has just had a baby and they both live with him. Isaac’s mother relies heavily on him but is keen for him to better his life. He is a hardworking and determined student and hopes to go to university. The Reed’s foundation is supporting him to achieve his dream.
* name has been changed for sensitivity reasons.
