Story
Jasmine, my daughter, has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome type 3 and has treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Jasmine was lucky to have so many people that cared for her, my dear friend Melanie thought the world of Jasmine so when Melanie passed away suddenly her parents wanted donations to go to Great Ormond Street.
When Jasmine was having treatment at Great Ormond Street Hospital, we stayed in Western House. This is the family hotel provided by the hospital which meant that we could be close to Jasmine and be there when she needed us the most. This resource was invaluable for us and made this difficult time we were going through as a family much more bearable knowing that we were so close to Jasmine.
As we know how important Western House is, all the money that we raise goes to fund this so that other families can be close to their children.
Once we started raising money we felt it helped with our grieving so we went on to organise more events. We have had collections at a Castleford Tigers rugby game, we were lucky enough to persuade some rugby players to have their legs waxed, various tombolas including a special chocolate tombola, a coffee morning, a fundraising night with a raffle. We also had a team running the Leeds 10K Run in memory of Melanie. We really hope to keep our fundraising going so would really appreciate any support you are able to give to help us continue to fund Weston House.
