Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have been very lucky and gained a place to run in the National Lottery Olympic park run on Saturday March 31st and to be one of the first 5000 people to cross the finish line at the Olympic Stadium in London. It is a 5mile/8km course which runs through the olympic site past all the venues and finishes in the stadium.
Most people who know me well know that Mel and running just did not mix but with a lot of strong Mel determination, personal goals being set and encouragement from my support crew I started off my challenge of running about 18 months ago. I have been out running in the weekends and going to the gym to prepare for this special event. I have now run the 5k Thames Hospicecare Santa run twice and did a 10k last year. I may not be fast but have strength and will to get me round.
The Santa run is a fun event and as I love Christmas so much it has just added to the magical build up for this time of year. The run was in December and so close to christmas I decided not to gain sponsorship but thought I could collect during this olympic run. The Thames hospicecare has for 25 years supported and helpied thousands of families receive the best possible care, free of charge, at a time when it is most needed. It has 2 hospices in Windsor and Ascot
