Story

When Joe entered the Great North Swim last year, my exact words were "nothing on earth would get me in that cold lake." I therefore can't believe that I was talked into doing it and actually did it! Despite regularly considering pulling out, after the time and countless lengths I put in swimming training and the stress of swimming in various cold lakes in the West Midlands to prepare myself, there was no going back.....

So, I did it! It was a real challenge and a tough swim as it was so choppy. I hated the first couple of hundred metres and all I could think was "I am never doing this again", but I got into my stride and swam it in a respectable 44mins 44 seconds, which I am very proud of.

Thank you to everyone who has supportd me. I am donating the money raised to a cause which has personal significance - Breakthrough is a charity dedicated to improving outcomes in breast cancer. Mel x
