Story

On Sunday 2nd October 2022 I will be running the iconic London Marathon in memory of my mum and to raise much needed funds for Katharine House Hospice in Stafford.

In October 2005 my sister and I sadly lost our Mum to terminal cancer, she was only 57 years old!  Our Mum was a truly amazing woman, she raised my sister and I on her own and pretty much devoted her entire time to caring for us and giving us the best life possible, we never had much growing up however our house was always full of love!

Our Mum was such a fun and outgoing character, always the life and soul of any party, she loved to sing and dance!  She had such an amazing sense of humour with an infectious laugh, she was so kind, loving, caring and thoughtful, we still miss her so very much and often imagine what life would be like if she were still around today.

Mum would often go to Katharine House Hospice for respite and pain relief and when she came home she was always a lot stronger, physically and mentally, so it allowed us to have good days to make happy memories.

We will never forget how much Katharine House looked after our Mum, they were simply wonderful and provided her with such great care right to the very end.

For anyone who has visited Katharine House they will know that they offer a welcoming, warm and safe environment, where hope is kept alive and laughter is often heard. Katharine House Hospice is an integral part of our community, they do such an amazing job, they have touched the lives of so many people and have a special place in our hearts. ❤

Katharine House Hospice provides care for the families of mid-Staffordshire, their aim is to enable their patients with life limiting conditions and those close to them to live life as fully as possible and make the most of the time that they have, their care is provided where and when it is needed most, at the hospice, in the community and at home.

Katharine House Hospice has over 200 staff and a staggering 600+ volunteers, all of their services are offered free of charge and as a charity they rely on the kindness and generosity of the local community to help generate 2/3rds of the funds needed (approximately 3 million each year) to continue their care, they couldn't do it without our support.

This is my first marathon and I am nervous however my training plan is in good progress and I will do my very best to cross that finish line!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for your amazing support.
