Melanie's - My first half marathon

I started running 4 years ago and have never ran more than 10 km. I decided 6 weeks ago to set myself a target of running a half marathon. I happened to mention it to my friend and colleague who happens to be a qualified coach and before I knew it I had a 10 weeks training programme! I'm about to start my 7th week of training and thought, I'm not going to keep quiet about this as I had originally planned and decided to run in memory of Dad who we lost 5 years ago in August.
Pancreatic cancer is a horrid disease and most patients don't know they have it until they have symptoms and then most times it is too late just like Dad, he was diagnosed and then we lost him within 8 weeks. We knew nothing about Pancreatic cancer before Dad was diagnosed and now we just want to raise awareness and funds to help others. It costs just £10 for a relaxation session for a Pancreatic cancer patient. £30 covers the cost for a nurse to run the telephone support line for an hour. Charities have been hit hard during Covid-19 so if you can make a donation, big or small I know it will be greatly appreciated please.
My friend, colleague and coach will be running along side me on 5th September and I'm sure Dad will be watching over me too.
