Story
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I am celebrating
being one year cancer free and am a proud volunteer for Cancer Hope Network.
It’s an organization dedicated to providing
One-on-One, peer-to-peer
support for cancer patients and their caregivers. Our
goal is to provide HOPE from diagnosis to treatment and then survival!
The organization is important to me as
I wish I knew about it when I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's
lymphoma. Someone who was going to tell me about my hair loss, or the bone
aches, or how hard it would be to get out of bed some days. And the real
version not what the doctors or nurses would read off of a side effect
sheet. I wish I had a peer to talk to, someone who experienced what I
was about to go through. Cancer is scary and isolating. Your mental
health is just as important as your physical health while going through cancer.
Talking with someone who’s been there can help. Which is why I now advocate for
the organization and volunteer to be a peer support!
For 40 years, Cancer Hope Network's survivor and caregiver
volunteers have provided free emotional peer support to cancer patients and the
people who love them. Coordinated and overseen by our professional Programs
Team, they’ve helped patients continue treatment, prepared caregivers for the
road ahead and instilled hope. Your gift helps recruit and train the
volunteers, collaborate with healthcare professionals and provide resources to
patients.
