One Million Steps 2022 · 1 July 2022 to 31 October 2022 ·

This summer, take one million steps over three months thats about 10,000 steps a day. Steps to get fit. Steps to lose weight. Steps for your own body, and steps to raise funds that will change the lives of everybody affected by diabetes.

Story

Welcome to my Diabetes UK Million Steps page.

This summer i am going to challenge myself to walk 10,000 steps a day throughout July, August and September (I know right - wish me luck).

In September 2016 my wonderful mum (type 2 insulin diabetic) was admitted to hospital in need of a lower limb amputation following a foot infection. Unfortunately after needing a second operation this ended up needing to be from her mid thigh. After various complications later and catching pneumonia, my beautiful mum sadly passed away in hospital February 2017 aged 64.

Shortly after in April 2017 aged 29 i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Since then it’s been a rough few years but I feel its now time to do my bit and help diabetes uk and its research, whilst also getting a bit fitter and healthier along the way.

With this charity being close to my heart and my mum in my thought's motivating me, if you can please hit the donate button and/or share my page and help support my stepping challenge. Thank you :) Mel xx
