Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have decided to sign up for my very first marathon this year to raise money for a charity which helps so many families right here in Ayrshire. As a Primary Teacher and a mum of two boys life can be hectic. I love my job and have had the privilege of teaching one very special boy this year...Marc Patterson. Marc and his family are close to my heart and here is Marc's story...
Marc was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in February 2020 aged 4. He has endured over 2 years of gruelling treatment and still has 14 months left. His treatment has been intense with daily chemo, bone marrow aspirations, lumber punctures, steroids, blood transfusions however Marc continues to make good progress and does it all with such bravery, humour and most of all that cheeky smile. We are so proud of him and everything he continues to fight for. 💪💙 - Colette Patterson (Marc's mum).
As his teacher, I have watched him develop not only academically but also emotionally too. He has his own battles and controlling his emotions can be tough especially on the days he's on his steroids. Marc is a bright, funny and very caring boy and it has been an absolute privilege to be teaching him this year. Some mornings he arrives and he's in a lot of pain but he soldiers on. Looking at him today, people would have no idea of the journey he's been through and still going through. He makes me so proud and I am doing this for him. It's my turn to make him proud. Please help me by raising money for this great charity. I know it has brought some respite to Marc's family over the past few years. No matter how big or how small your donation, every little helps and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Xx
