This comprehensive endowment campaign honors nearly 150 years of Alpha Phis history and lays the groundwork for 150 more. Join us now as we lead with our hearts to establish a vibrant future for Alpha Phi.
Generosity and a philanthropic spirit are hallmarks of the Alpha Phi sisterhood. Part of the high ideals of membership, the giving spirit that Alpha Phis demonstrate is a quality that we know extends beyond the campus grounds. The Alpha Phi Foundation cares about improving women’s heart health, and has supported education and research since our dedication to the cause in 1946.
We are nearly 50 years behind on women-centered research in this area, so we have a long way to go and that will require significant investment, because research is expensive. And we are even further behind in education and awareness on this issue among women, the general public, and the medical community.
Heart disease is the number one killer of women, killing more women than men and more women than all cancers combined.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, causing 1 in 3 deaths each year. Yet, only 1 in 5 women believe heart disease is her greatest threat. Cardiovascular diseases claim the life of a woman about every 80 seconds, but about 80 percent of cardiovascular diseases may be prevented.
Women’s hearts continue to be under-researched and misdiagnosed, and often go untreated.
Women are now more than 50% of the US population. Women are the future of the world! I raise money for the women of the future and the past. I raise money because one woman dies of heart disease EVERY MINUTE. I raise money to help raise awareness because very few people are unaware of these statistics and even fewer are educated about the gender differences in how heart disease presents in men versus women. I raise money to one day have a world where heart disease is no more:)
I ask that you all join me in supporting this sisterhood that supports Women's Heart Health!
