Story
See that selfie up there?
The one with the two total babes?
That's me and my little sister on Mother's Day this year.
That's Karina.
My partner in crime, my partner in weirdness, and the silliest sausage I've ever met.
Three years ago she had a very serious tummy bug.
Well, that's what we told her it was.
A tummy bug.
A very serious tummy bug.
Because how on earth do you tell a five year old she's got cancer?
How do you begin to explain "neuroblastoma" to a child?
What words can you use to say the pain in her tiny tummy is actually an eight inch tumour?
All in all, there's very little you can say.
After a year of devastating treatments - mindless, unexplained torture to a five year old - Karina attempted to pick up her childhood where she left off, labelled as one of the lucky neuroblastoma patients who managed to get out of the children's hospital alive.
Cancer is the vile bully who tortured my little sister, who now lurks around the corner waiting to return, so this year I'm running the Race for Life to help kick this bully's butt (...as Karina would say).
Please join the fight by digging deep and sponsoring me - it's quick, easy and totally secure.
Events like this are vital in funding Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me, we can unite and create an army that cancer can't ignore. By sponsoring me, we will beat cancer sooner.
