Story
My Dad and I (Mark and Megan Whiteley) are running the streets of London on the 3rd October 2021 (original date April 2020).
After completing one marathon, and initially saying never again. I am now taking on the challenge again with Dad by side.
In the past 12 months two people my Dad thought and thinks very highly of have been affected by Leukaemia.
A close family friend, Martin, who is very similar to my Dad in terms of being physically fit, independent, a family man and just approaching his long awaited retirement (also a couple of years on my dad and a little bit balder!!), was diagnosed with CLL, a form of Leukaemia. However this was an incidental finding following a screening test for Prostate Cancer. Martin is now 6 months plus into his treatment and taking daily medications - at times it’s been difficult, but is now feeling well.
Sadly, Jason, a friend, leader and colleague of many many years passed away December 2018 after battling an acute form of Leukaemia. It was an honour to work with and alongside him and his presence is greatly missed.
We kindly ask you to sponsor and support us through those 26.2 miles. I have first hand experience of how gruelling it is. There will be months of training to get to that finish line together - all with Leukaemia care in mind.
Running for Martin and Jason and all their families.
With all our love and Thank you's in advance,
Megan and Mark. X
