Story
On 24 May, I'll be running in the Great Manchester Half Marathon as a part of the Purple Wave 2020 to help re-write the future of cancer. In August last year we lost my Uncle Geoff to cancer and I will be running in his memory to raise money for people like him to get the treatment they need. 1 in 2 of us will get cancer at some point in our lifetime and the need for cancer research is greater than ever. Before Christmas, the furthest I’d ever run was a 5k, so running this half marathon (21k) is really going to be quite a challenge. Your sponsorship would mean a huge amount to me and my family as well as the tens of thousands of other families affected by cancer.
We all know someone whose life has been changed by cancer, which is why researchers in Manchester are working hard to improve how cancer is treated and help more patients with cancer get back to normal life. This is where we can help. Working in partnership with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust and Cancer Research UK, The University of Manchester is building a world-leading cancer research centre. The new centre will bring together the largest concentration of scientists, doctors and nurses in Europe all working together to tackle cancer head-on.But this will only be possible with the help of people like us.Please join me in re-writing the future of cancer by sponsoring me today! Find out more about how the University is re-writing cancer here: https://www.manchester.ac.uk/collaborate/give/appeals/rewrite-cancer/. Thank you!
