Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My Step-Father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2012. It turned out that he had a very rare brain disease called Multiple System Atrophy and he passed away in November 2013.

Both my Mum and Aubrey would attend a monthly Parkinson's UK meeting and I know that they found it invaluable in the final, difficult months of his life.

Since Aubrey died my Mum is now volunteering with them and trying to help other people who are being affected by Parkinson's. When the committee were meeting and this event came up my Mum asked me if I'd like to do be involved and I said 'Hell Yes!"

So on October 12th I'll be abseiling down the Avon George in Bristol. Please dig deep as Parkinson's UK do such great work for people and their families and it's a cause so close to my heart.

Parkinson's UK is totally dependant on donations and the disease effects 1 in 500 people which is  a total of 127,000 people in the UK.  Parkison's UK is working on researching why people get the disease and they help support the families effected.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.
