Story
On Sunday 15th March, I am running the Bath half marathon to raise money for cancer research on behalf of my Granny Dot who I never got the chance to meet and my Grandad Raymond. I’m not a natural runner & long distance terrifies me, so it’s going to be a challenge! I would be so grateful for anyone that could sponsor me. Here’s my Grandad Raymond’s story:
I’ve always thought of my Grandad as a superhero, he knows everything, can fix anything and is one of the best people I know.
In February 2019 my Grandad was diagnosed with mouth cancer. Someone who has never smoked & rarely has more than a glass of wine to drink, it came as a huge shock to our family.
His treatment was intense, he had a large part of his jaw removed along with his bottom row of teeth and replaced with bone from his shoulder. He was expected to be in hospital for 4 weeks. He was released 8 days later.
His strength and fighting power has been inspirational & the treatment he has received is phenomenal. Without cancer research, his procedure may have never been possible. I’m running to raise money so more people can be saved and to say thank you to the NHS & everyone who works tirelessly to fight cancer.
Thank you for saving my superhero.
