Story
I am running at the 10k rainbow run to raise money for the Neonatal unit at the Lister Hospital.
We stayed in the unit when our daughter Milena was born 6 weeks early. I was able to stay in a room on the unit for 10 days while Milena was on the ward. She was born 6 weeks early and put in an incubator, a hot cot and then received treatment for jaundice and a heart murmur. It was a very difficult time but we were so grateful for the amazing support we received.
The staff on the unit were incredible, and to show our support for them, we are raising money to refurbish parents bedrooms and provide better feeding chairs for mums to feed their babies. The rooms desperately need updating and there aren’t enough chairs for mums to feed comfortably.
The babies require constant care from the nurses and there are not many rooms to allow parents to stay the night. We were grateful to have our own space that allowed me to feed Milena every 3 hours all day and night. Without their help, I wouldn’t have been able to breastfeed and pump.
Please donate to help the hospital improve the rooms and support families caring for premature and sick babies. Or, please join us by running 2.5k, 5k or 10k!
Thank you from all of us xx
