Story
Anyone that knows me well will know I'm not a natural born runner. Even running for the bus has been known to end in embarrassment, and I spent my husband Tim's 40th birthday sporting a Timmy Mallet-esque plaster on my chin having cut it open after tripping over a speed bump!
But sometimes when big things happen in your life, you need to do something big in response. For me one of those big things has been giving birth to Molly. Almost as soon as she was born, I knew something was wrong, and at 7 weeks old she was diagnosed as functionally blind. At the time the docs were unsure if her problems were just visual, or part of a much broader health issue.
Four operations, hundreds of appointments, thousands of patches and millions of tears (mostly mine!) later, and Molly can now see! (a bit). We were lucky that following removal of a cataract her vision has started to develop, and she has grown into an independent and fun-loving toddler. It has been quite a journey, and I'm sure there will be more bumps in the road ahead.
I'm hugely thankful to the team at Bristol who have treated and supported Molly over the last two years, and I want to do give something back. That's why I'm running the Bath Half - a distance I'd never previously even dreamed of running. I'm not going to break any speed records, but can hopefully raise a few quid to help BCH support other children.
If you can, please sponsor me. It means a huge amount.
Thanks, H x
