Story
We are taking part in Action for M.E.'s Walk with M.E.
The idea is that from Feb 1st-May 12th (M.E awareness day) there are 100 days. During those 100 days, as a team, we are aiming to walk 1,000,000 steps to highlight the fact that there are millions missing from their lives because they have M.E. (myalgic encephalomyelitis).
Some of you may know that Jack is training for a marathon this year, so in order to make the challenge fair, our team is aiming to walk 2 million steps in 100 days. We’d love for you to sponsor us or even better, set up your own teams and support us and Action for M.E. You can’t say we aren’t up for the challenge
The reason we are doing it as a team is because I could never achieve 10,000 steps a day. I average between 2-3000 a day, occasionally more. M.E is not just being tired. It’s constant fatigue with joint and muscle pain, sensitivities, cognitive problems and post exertional malaise. But raising awareness is important to me and my family. Yes, it’s changed my life but it has also changed my familiy’s lives. My parents are my carers and support me physically, emotionally and financially every day.
M.E affects around 250,000 people in the UK yet there is no known cause, cure or treatment. Action for ME aims to raise money for research, money that as of yet, the government isn’t supplying, in the hope that medical professionals start to sit up and listen and actively begin to fight for their patients living with this dibilitating illness.
Thank you for supporting us and sharing our story, Every penny is a step towards bio medical funding which we so desperately need. We will keep you updated with our progress!
