Story
On Sunday, 27th September our energetic team from the MEA Bath Office are lacing up their hiking boots and polishing their walking poles ready to take part in the 20 mile Circuit of Bath Walk in order to raise much needed funds for Julian House.
The 20 mile circular route encompasses beautiful countryside and spectacular views across the city of Bath and includes a mixed terrain of footpaths, roadway, flat fields through to hills and will take the team through Bath’s very quaint surrounding village. It also goes past quite a few pubs, which obviously did not sway the decision to take part in any way.
The team have been undertaking an intense training schedule in order to prepare themselves for the event which has mainly involved walking from their desks to the kitchen and back a few times a day.
Quotes from the team when we decided to enter included…
“So how many pubs can we stop at on the way?” Mark
“The longest walk I’ve ever done is to the fridge” Andy
“Do you think it will be OK to wear my heels?” Denise
“Can’t we just drive the route instead of walking it?” Harry
“Do we need to take a tent, it might take us days? Will
So… looks like it will be an interesting challenge!!
Julian House provides life changing support to over 1,400 vulnerable individuals across the South West, including those suffering from homelessness, women and children escaping domestic abuse and adults with learning difficulties. Alongside our emergency hostel, we also provide supported accommodation and training and education opportunities to help people gain confidence, re-build their lives and fulfil their potential.
The directors at MEA were surprised and shocked to learn that the normally home-comforts-loving Bath office team have signed up to this challenge. Recognising the worthy cause and to encourage sponsorship, MEA has pledged to match all donations pound for pound. Please give generously and witness a rare sight of getting money out of Quantity Surveyors!
