Story
On 30th March 2009 I took part in the 24th Marathon des Sables. Known as "the toughest foot race on earth", the race covered a distance of over 125miles through the Sahara Desert in Morrocco.
As the race was self-sufficient, I had to carry everything in a rucksack for the duration of the course . This included all food, eating/cooking utensils, medicines, clothes, sleeping bag, mat, head-torch and mandatory equipment. The temperatures was 35 deg during the day but drop to about 5 deg at night.
Upcoming event
On 29/30th August 09 I will be attempting the 85 mile Ridgeway Challenge.
Described as Britain's Oldest Road, the Ridgeway is a 85 mile (137km) route that follows the chalk hills between Ivinghoe Beacon in Buckinghamshire and finishing at Avebury in Wiltshire.
Why am I running, after completing the MdS I wanted another challenge and to continue to raise sponsorship for Mencap; the leading UK charity for people with a learning disability and their families http://www.mencap.org.uk/
Mencap is a terrific cause and any contribution you can make is greatly appreciated.
