In July we will be volunteering in a refugee camp on the Greek island of Leros. We work as immigration and asylum lawyers in the UK and are passionate about promoting and supporting the rights of refugees. We are looking to provide practical support, take supplies (more information to follow) and raise funds to support the refugees in the camp.
We will be volunteering with a charity called Echo100Plus, which supports refugees by providing basic necessities (such as clothing), as well as vital structure by way of activities and skills-based classes such as language and computer classes.
Although the media's coverage of the refugee crisis has dwindled in recent times, the crisis shows no signs of ending, with hundreds of new arrivals having arrived in Leros in the last few weeks alone.
All donated funds will be channelled to Echo100Plus through the UK registered charity, the Aegean Solidarity Network Team UK. With funding in ever short supply, donations are critical to the charity's ability to perform its work. This will be the third year the firm has worked with the charity and the need is as great as ever.
Many thanks
Maria and Lucy
