Story
MCS's student charity committee has challenged the students of MCS to redefine 2020 as a force for good.
We have just chosen Helen and Douglas House as our local charity for 2020-21: they provide stellar hospice care and outreach support to babies, children, and young adults with terminal illnesses, and for their families. Not only is the hospice a serene and homely space for families at an impossibly difficult time, but patients also have 24/7 access to nursing and medical care for their often very rare conditions, while mums, dads, brothers, sisters and grandparents all receive practical and emotional support.
This half-term, students and staff will be completing their own challenge based around the numbers, 2020. From 20.20km runs and cycle rides, to 202-minute musical feats, to giving up screens for 20 hours (or 2 days!), we have challenged them to be creative in rewriting the year.
Thank you very much in advance for your support of our sponsored challenges. Just £10 could pay for a carer for one day; £20 could pay for five bereavement sessions for parents. Helen and Douglas House costs an astonishing £3.6 million to run every year, and their finances have been greatly impacted by Covid-19.
