We are Pauline, Sharon and Kathryn McLaughlin, 3 sisters and the daughters of the late Kevin and Alice McLaughlin.

Between us we are walking 1 million steps during the month of October in memory of our beloved parents in the hope of raising funds for the Irish Cancer Society Nurses for Nightcare Team.

Both our parents died at home as was their wish.  Our family received superlative support from so many people in helping to make that happen.  In particular The Irish Cancer Society Nurses for Nightcare Team stepped in at a crucial point at the very end of life. 

In the nights before their passing, Mum and Dad were cared for by amazing women who saw beyond disease and sickness right to their person.  These women are angels who hide their wings. They cared and comforted and soothed in a way that was deeply connected and compassionate. As a family we were reassured and relieved of much of the concern that accompanied their medical needs. Instead we were afforded the chance to rest and gather our energy so that we could be fully present with our parents during their passing. 

Our debt of gratitude to these nurses is great and always will be.  We are walking one million steps to raise much needed funds so that other families can avail of the support and services of the Irish Cancer Society Nurses for NightcareTeam.  They depend entirely on donations to run this service.  It was certainly the kindness of a stranger whose donation made the service available to us at our time of need. And so we embark on this endeavour to pass the kindness on to the next family who need an angel to call at their door. We would be so grateful if you could support us.
