Story
We plan to cycle 470 miles in 12 days from Gretna Green to John O'Groats over the hills of the great Scottish countryside. It's mostly off-road, on good tracks using National Cycle Network routes. If the weather's good it'll be great. If the weather isn't good, our teenagers might find this a challenge too far................
We've been planning this for over 9 months but the COVID-19 pandemic threatened to derail us. Thankfully the accommodation we booked months ago will be open following the recent announcement to lift many of the restrictions in Scotland so we've decided to go for it.
We considered waiting until next summer to do this - as we know these are difficult times for many - however the pandemic has hugely affected those in the most vulnerable categories and especially those with lung conditions such as CF.
Recent events have massively reduced the ability of charities to raise money to help those that need it most at this time. We're therefore desperately keen to stick to the original plan to help fund the ongoing work of the Trust. The CF Trust's work is incredibly important so we feel that raising money to support it right now is best.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is a life-limiting genetic condition affecting more than 10,000 people across the UK. It affects the lungs and digestive system and can cause chronic infections and reduced lung function. Currently, half of those with CF will not live past age 41.
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is fighting for a brighter future for people with CF and their families by funding cutting-edge research, driving up standards of care and supporting people with the condition and their loved ones every step of the way.
Thank you very much for any support you can give.
