Story
Here we go again!!
Having twice succeeded at walking a half marathon together, we have decided to up our game and face a new challenge and walk a MARATHON! In the process we hope to raise over £500 to support the fantastic work of the Alzheimer's Society.
There are currently over 750,000 people in the UK with dementia, with this figure set to rise to over a million by 2025. Chances are, we will all be affected by dementia at some stage in out lives.
The Alzheimer's Society support people with dementia as well as those who care for or work with them. They provide support groups, organise activities, such as singing for the brain (a personal favourite of Lindsey's), give information in many formats, offer a helpline and online support network, provide training and support for people working with people with dementia, and fund research to find ways to improve the quality of life of people living with dementia.
The Memory Walk Marathon will take place in Northumberland, from Hethpool to Holy Island, and will be a challenging 26 mile walk.
We are paying for all of the costs associated with our participation in the challenge ourselves, so every penny of every donation will go straight towards funding the outstanding work of the Alzheimer's Society.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. JustGiving will never sell your details on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer.
As well as this event, Lindsey also took part in the Lake District Four Peaks Trek in June 2011, to raise further funds for the Alzheimer's Society. For more information, visit: http://www.justgiving.com/lindsey-and-rob-lake-district-challenge
