UPDATE:
WE SWAM THE CHANNEL!
On 20th August 2023, Moore Barlow's 'Legal' Eagles swam the English Channel in 14 hours and 54 minutes. Thank you so much to everybody who has sponsored us so far, and thank you to Moore Barlow for their support on this journey.
As a team, we have collectively raised over £21,000 for Aspire. Donations will remain open should you wish to sponsor us now the swim is complete!
In Summer 2023 a team 6 brave Moore Barlow employees, made up of Louise Campbell, Clair Phillips, Danielle Cranstone, Fiona Hampton, Maxine Winfield and Emma Williams, will be swimming the English Channel to raise money for Aspire, a charity with strong links to Moore Barlow.
The English Channel swim is seen as the Mount Everest of all swims - more people have climbed Mount Everest than have swum the English Channel. The team will take part in a relay team of 6 from Dover to France, with the swim taking 12 - 18 hours.
Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help to people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any time, and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. People with Spinal Cord Injury will lose muscle and sensory control and a large majority will become full time wheelchair users for the rest of their lives. Historically, the majority of spinal injuries have been sustained by those aged 21 to 30, with nearly three quarters of new spinal cord injury patients being male.
Through its projects and programmes, Aspire offers practical support to the 50,000 people living with a spinal cord injury in the UK, from newly injured spinal cord injury patients in hospital and throughout their lives.
We would appreciate any donations to this important cause!!
