Story
Sudden flash floods: have caused devastation with thousands of families displaced without clean water, food or shelter. These families are from very poor communities and have now lost even their homes and self subsistence crops. At least 24 people have died, more than 5,600 people have been displaced, and 400,000 have been left without clean water. 18 families sought shelter in the HSoA health clinic after their homes were destroyed by the flood. Clinic staff have been providing blankets and porridge and the HSoA primary school is to become a temporary shelter.
HSoA has over 10yrs of experience: of working in the areas worst affected by these floods. our projects cover clean water, health, education and economic empowerment.
Our 250 Community Health Promotors: are volunteers who work in these areas. They are currently involved in the local district response to provide water purification tablets, blankets, mattresses and food. We are the only charity operating at a community level with health initiatives in Doko and Namabasa which have been the worst affected villages. The Community Health Promotors will be integral to help reduce the spread of disease once the flood waters recede as well as to provide comfort and support for the acute emotional and psychological trauma from the worst floods that Mbale has ever experienced.

We must raise £10,000 to deliver vital clean water supplies, shelter, food & clothing and to prevent disease.
Please help us provide emergency assistance through our Community Health Promotors to the families in desperate need.
