Business Fives Charity Football Tournament · 14 February 2023

We fund care, campaigning and research to achieve a world free from MND

Story

Background

On Tuesday 14th February a team of 8 from Mazars will be participating in the Business Fives Charity Football tournament in Birmingham in order to raise money for our charity of choice, being the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA).

We have collectively chosen this charity as a team as our captain (Jamie Gibson) received devastating news that his Dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease in July 2018 and later died in January 2020. Additionally an Assistant Manager in the Advisory and Consulting Service Line was diagnosed with the terminal illness soon after re-joining Mazars , Jamie and his sister Alexandra Gibson have made it their mission to spread awareness and make what is such a horrific disease into something memorable and fundraise for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Additionally we are supporting MNDA as it is one of five charities that Mazars UK are supporting as a national charity.

Business Fives

Business Fives runs corporate charity events which offer a mix of teambuilding and networking that enable companies to create a positive impact at the same time. Through working with over a thousand companies, £230,000 has been raised for charity to date.

The tournament format will be an initial round robin playing for position to go into either the Champions League or Europa League before a knockout. The winners of the event will receive a £500 charity donation with the Europa League winners receiving £150. The winners, runners up and Europa league champions will be invited to the Business Fives National Finals on Tuesday 18th of April 2023.
