As a team of four we are going to try and swim a total of 22 miles in our local pool. This is the equivalent of swimming across the English Channel. We are starting on 8th September and have until 1st December to complete the task - this means we have to swim 118 lengths of a 25m pool between us each week.
Too easy you say? Well, we hear you ... that's why we're upping the stakes, tumble-turning when we hit the French coast and swimming back to blighty - still within the 12 week time period!
Still too easy you say? Well ... we're not listening to you any more.
This challenge is organised by http://www.aspirechannelswim.co.uk/ to raise money for people who have been paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. We wanted to help a charity supporting people with back problems because Laurence has recently recovered from a prolapsed disc in his lower spine and was suffering from sciatica for around 6 months. It was a miserable time (for all of us) and even this minor spinal injury proved to be incredibly debilitating so he counts himself very lucky.
Please give generously to help those people who are suffering from spinal injuries and keep up with our progress at the following link (http://www.aspirechannelswim.co.uk/team/justkeepswimming).
Thanks,
Laurence, Donna, Elizabeth and Helen.
