Story
The NI Hospice is one of my adopted charities for my year in office but in truth it is the adopted and much-loved charity of everyone in Belfast. For over many years, the selfless and caring staff and volunteers of the Hospice have impacted positively on every family in this city.
My father Sammy passed away in the Hospice on 11 November 2004. During his final days, I found the Hospice to be a place of joy and compassion where patients and visitors alike were treated with enormous respect and dignity.
I am delighted, therefore, to give back to this outstanding institution through my participation in the Belfast Marathon. I have set £5,000 as my target and have contributed the first £1,000 to get the ball rolling.
Your support for the Hospice, as it prepares to move into a new era in purpose-built premises, will be deeply appreciated by all the people of Belfast. Thank you.

Is carthanthacht de mo chuid é Oispís TÉ le linn mo théarma mar Ard-Mhéara. Ach tá gean ar leith ag pobal Bhéal Feirste ar an Oispís chéanna le fada an lá as siocair na hoibre a ghní siad leo siúd atá ag saothrú an bháis.
Fuair m'athair féin Sam bás ann i mí na Samhna 2004 agus ag am sin chonaic mé an fháilte mhór a chuir an Oispís, a foireann agus a cuid oibrithe deonacha, roimh chuairteoirí is othair araon.
I dtólamh san Oispís taispeánann siad meas agus grá don othar. Leoga, is áit í an Oispís a thógann do chroí.
Ba mhaith liom mo chuidiú beag féin a thabhairt do chiste an Oispís tríd maratón Bhéal Feirste. Is e £5,000 an sprioc a chuir mé romham agus tá an chéad mhíle curtha sa phota agam.
Gan mhoill, bogfaidh an Oispís isteach i bhfoirgneamh nua. Beidh cibé cuidiú a dtig leatsa a thabhairt tré urraíocht a thabhairt dom ina chuidiú mhór ag an iarracht sin. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.
